Two Movements for Wind Quintet (2014)

I. As One
II. Homage

Two Movements for Wind Quintet was written for a workshop with the Slowind wind quintet, hosted by The Royal Danish Academy of Music in march 2014.

The first movement, As one, is a textural study that explores the different capabilities of the wind quintet. The second movement is a homage to the Icelandic composer Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson, which had recently passed away when the piece was being written. It is built on one of Þorkell’s most famous compositions, a hymn called “Heyr himna smiður”.
