Fjögur lög með millispilum was commissioned by the The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV), with support from Tónskáldasjóður RÚV og STEFs. The piece was commissioned for RÚV’s mini festival named “Efnið og andinn”, which culminated in a concert in Harpa concert hall, which was simultaneously broadcasted. The piece was written for the soprano Þórgunnur Anna Örnólfsdóttir.
The piece is written to four poems from Hannes Pétursson’s 1978 work “Heimkynni við sjó”.
